From the History of Photography Studios in Sosnowiec until 1914"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tr\u00f3jk\u0105t w Kole Gallery<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sosnowiec was developing rapidly at the end of the 19th century. Located at the frontier of the Russian Empire, the city had its own gold rush. The promise of quick profit attracted professionals from various trades, including photographers \u2013 pioneers of a profession situated at the intersection of art, craft, and modern technology. The fates of photography businesses varied: some studios disappeared after a few months, while others shaped the city\u2019s visual memory over the decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>At the exhibition, we present the history of the seven selected photography studios that operated in Sosnowiec until the outbreak of the Great War in 1914. Together, they form an exceptional gallery of the inhabitants of Sosnowiec from the era that is irrevocably gone.<br>Every saved frame hides a double story \u2013 it is not only the history of the person in the photograph, but also of the photographer. The exhibition served as a pretext to search for the oldest atelier photographs in the museum\u2019s collection and to discover the stories of the people depicted in them. So far anonymous, today their story is restored.
