ARTIST

Dominika Muszyńska

She works at the intersection of photography and collage, treating the archive as a space for dialogue between memory, history and the present. In her work, she explores how memory manifests itself in places, objects, myths and landscapes. She lives and works in Lower Silesia, which forms the main focus of her artistic research.

Mons Silensis

The project emerges from the intersection of my personal fascination with Mount Ślęża and my family’s history of forced resettlement after 1945. Through my exploration of Ślęża, I seek to show how places marked by historical ruptures become spaces for imagination and the creation of new narratives. My aim is to investigate how myth and memory shape the cultural landscape of Ślęża, and how different layers of belief, spiritual, historical and fantastical, coexist in a single place. By revisiting and visually reworking these narratives, Mons Silensis raises questions about how collective memory is constructed and how myth can become a response to absence, displacement and loss.

The objects featured in several photographs come from the collection of the Ślęża Museum in Sobótka. Some of the material was created in collaboration with the Ślęża Native Faith community. Work on the project is ongoing and has been made possible in large part by the goodwill and support of the residents of Sobótka and the surrounding municipality.
